Daily Herald Article:
A Vineyard City Council member has resigned from her position, the city announced Wednesday night.
Amber Rasmussen, who began her term in 2022, said she’s stepping down to focus on her family following recent personal changes, according to a city release.
“Serving on the City Council has been an incredible honor, and I am profoundly thankful for the trust the community has placed in me,” Rasmussen said. “My recent family circumstances have required me to prioritize my children and their well-being. While this decision was difficult, I am confident the council will continue to lead Vineyard forward.”
According to the city, the vacant seat will be filled through an appointment process to serve the remainder of Rasmussen’s term, which ends in December 2025.
Any interested and eligible residents are invited to submit a declaration of candidacy.
Registered voters in Vineyard who have been residents in the municipality for 12 consecutive months preceding the date of election and are in accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6 — which prohibits “Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise” from voting or holding office — are eligible to apply.
Applications must be submitted to the city recorder’s office by Nov. 15.
